Healing - What Is It Really?
Everyone seems to have an opinion about healing! We all want to be healthy and there are so many ways to make sure we are. Fresh air, exercise and sunshine are a great start. Most of us aren’t even doing that. Then there’s good nutrition, and there are so many different opinions about that, not to mention that we often indulge in fast foods and junk foods. That’s part of why we end up needing healing!
So, let’s say you’ve been ignoring the basics or some stress or injury has left you open to some kind of dis-ease or lack of ease in your body. Now what?
Well, some people go straight to the family doctor to get a name for what’s going on and some pills. There may be a time and a place for that, but it’s not for everyone. Other people are into a more holistic healing path. That philosophy may start by finding out whether you’ve been covering the basics of fresh air, exercise, sunshine and good nutrition. That is the first line of correction.
But maybe things have progressed and some part of you is in need of more serious attention. Where do you look? Well, aside from MD’s, you also have naturopathic doctors, osteopathic doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists and even spiritual healers and energy treatments of various kinds. Never heard of any of that? Well, do a web search and you will find dozens of alternative healing therapies. Many of them are very helpful. Others may not be.
How do you begin to educate yourself? How do you choose an alternative care type of healing?
Start by talking with people you know. Ask if they know a good practitioner who has done good work for them or someone they know. If you can, mention the specific ailment you want to heal. Then interview the practitioner. Ask them if their method helps with whatever you’re going through. See if they have had any success in healing your particular problem. You’ll be amazed how much we can actually heal with alternative methods. Sometimes faster and more completely than we would if we had just popped a pill! Check it out and see what choices you have.
